A vegan diet can help reduce inflammation. The studies proved this.

According to the Arthritis Foundation "In a 2015 study published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine, 600 participants followed a vegan diet for three weeks which significantly reduced C-reactive protein (CRP), a key marker for acute and chronic inflammation." 1

So in as little as 3 weeks, the vegan diet had already shown results.

However there are longer studies and analysis that have shown long-term vegetarians or vegans continually show reduced inflammatory markers. It appears the sooner you adopt a plant-based diet, the faster your health will improve with numerous benefits.

According to a study called "Systematic review and meta-analysis of the associations of vegan and vegetarian diets with inflammatory biomarkers" from the National Library of Medicine, in the 'Discussion' section, "Taken together, our findings provide evidence that a vegan or vegetarian diet may be beneficial to prevent or counteract inflammatory state underlying numerous chronic diseases and therefore might be a nutritional approach to reduce risk of chronic diseases. Moreover, adoption of a vegan or vegetarian diet may also have beneficial effects in pre-diseased populations." 2

In addition "Next to the decreased level of CRP in vegetarian patients with impaired kidney function, a plant-based diet may hamper the development or progression of some complications of chronic kidney disease, due to the associated cardioprotective, anti-oxidant, and lipid-lowering properties."2 So reducing CRP markers is beneficial for those with chronic diseases as well.
